Done a tune up for fall/winter. Plugs were due @ 30k.and changed. Put on new distrbuter cap and rotor. The plug wires were changed last spring. Couple weeks later it failed to start after a heavy rain. I disconnected the coil wire from the distributer and wife turned it over about thre times and it fired. Plugged it back and it fired of fine. It done the same thing over Labor Day weekend. Same procedure and I went to O'Rieleys and got a new coil and replaced it.
This evening it did the same thing. Now in this time frame (past week) the idle has been incresing periodically to 1500-2000 rpm.. So, I am a little confused as to what or where to look for a solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

A very thorough cleaning of the throttle body should be done. Pay close attention to the Idle Air Contol (IAC) and the associated passages in the TB. I'd pull the IAC to make sure you get the pintle really clean. Cotten swabs and a can of Carb & Choke cleaner is all you'll need. Post up your results too.
