91 XJ No Fuel, No Spark, No Start
So after about a year and a half of sitting I finally got my 91 xj I6 to start and run. Everything was going well for about an hour just taking it through the yard to get all of the parts used to moving again.
Engine then started not quite responding as fast to the throttle, seemed like maybe some misfires/gunked up plugs (expected because of sitting). So anyways nursed I was able to nurse it back to its parking spot and shut her down.
After replacing the fuel filter and plugs tried to crank again and engine will turn but no start. Fuel pump wasn't priming so we pulled and tested, it works fine. Replaced rotor and distributor cap, still nothing. Fuel pump will only run if we jump the fuse with a piece of wire.
Any ideas as to what might have caused a rough run and then no start? Bad cps/ecu/tps? Any advice would help!

Some questions for you:
- If the fuel pump wasn't priming, why did you replace the rotor and distributor cap?
- How do you know there is no spark?
- Since the fuel pump runs if you jump the fuse, have you checked to see if the fuse is bad? Or do you mean that you provided power to the fuel pump directly from the battery?

1. Replaced the rotor and cap after confirming no spark. Just my first instinct in a no spark situation.
2. Confirmed no spark by cranking engine while checking a new plug grounded with the engine block. Checked with old plugs and other spark plug wires as well.
3. Fuse is all good, we confirmed the pump works first by direct lining it to the battery. Because the fuse is good it makes me suspect something else may be going on.
Also I'm glad to see you're another Virginia Jeeper!
