91 with transmission problems
I have a 91 base model with an automatic. Just got it a month ago. The tranny wouldnt shift while cold. Then it went to not shifting while cold or hot. Now it wont shift at all. Only works in first and reverse. Fluid is red and smells normal, hasn't been changed as far as I know planned on doing it next weekend after new solenoid and or module. Was hopping for some input before spending money.

It starts out with plenty of power. If I floor it from a stop it will bark the tires and get up to about 35 mph & red line everytime. Never shift and rpm never drop till I let off the gas. I try to manually shift and wont shift out of first.

Up under the passenger side dash is a silver box. Directly below the glovebox. See if the fuse to it is blown. It's right there near the box, called a TCU. Transmission Control Unit. Make sure the unit is plugged in and the fuse is good.

Look hardeer for the fuse. Wrapped in yellow tape? Right near the tCU.
Address the relays for sure.

I just got home from a test drive. I found the auto trans fuse but still havent had luck finding the tcu fuse unless that is it. Not sure. Looked bad so i replaced but didnt help. After I unplugged and plugged back in still wouldnt shift. So I unplugged it and drove, had to manually shift but did great. Looking for that fuse now.

Found wiring in motor compartment and fallowed to main wiring harnesses. Opened and still no fuse. Untill you get to the fuse block under hood.
