Default 91 Dana 30 front axle

My brother has a 91 xj there suppose to come with vaccuum line that engages the fourwheel drive locking the axles togethere right? well his doesn't even have a the line hooked up I dont know where it is. And the 4 wheel drive still works fine and unlocks fine.

if it works who cares. My guess it is locked all the time( some one cracked it open and did it intentionally) A lot of people to it or switch to a pull cable. Jack it up and manually turn the front drive shaft (not in 4wd) and see it the tire spins. If what i said was true it should spin. I think.

or just open it up and take a look inside

If it came with a 242 t-case it doesn't have a CAD axle. Tell him to consider himself lucky.

lol its funny you say that cause it does have the 242 Transfer case.

Only the NP231 had the vac disco front axles through the 91 model year. THe NP242s did not.

have th np231 and I have a hose running from my front diff case. And it's not hooked up. It's been plugged off I did not do this. But were would it hook back into

If you are talkng about the hose coming from the diff running up to the firewall by the brake booster, that is a vent tube and does not connect to anything. It just has a check valve on the end to prevent dirt and debris from clogging the tube up.
