91 cherokee starts but wont move
So i just fixed my 91 cherokee limited's no start problem by replacing the ballast resistor. it started up right away. but now it wont move. i give it gas and it just sits there. if i rev it up to like 4000 rpm it starts to move then stops after like six inches. ive shifted it from drive to reverse to 3 and 1-2 and back. get the same problem i even tried putting it in 4wheel. same thing. anyone have any advise?

Be sure fluid is at the correct LEVEL on the dipstick, that it is RED in color, and that it doesn't smell BURNT.
And figure out where your fluid leak is and fix it.
Low fluid level is extremely hard on your transmission.

I had a similar problem with my old 92' 4.0 Laredo automatic.. turned out after i sold it that it was something called an transmission engage bolt. basically a bolt came off somewhere on the road or just before i got home and then when i started it it would run engine wise just fine but no movement.. too bad it was just a bolt.. was a really good jeep all around! good luck!
ill have a look into the bolt thanks! and when i was adding new fluid my transmission cooling line burst! turns out the hose had been rubbing against the tie rod and wore almost all the way down. and the pressure from adding fluid was too much. so now im just waiting on my new cooling line! the fluid did come out a little dark when i drained the rest.
