90 XJ no dashlights or tail after cleaning connections
I picked up this xj a couple of months ago and have been slowly working on fixing the issues with it. I read about cleaning and dielectric greaseing the electical connections under the hood which I spent acouple of hours doing last week ,now I don't have any dash lights or tail lights, I've searched the fourm and know that it could be several diffrent things like the headlight switch, but also read about a connection under the hood that could also cause it, but don't know which one to check. Any info where to look on a Renix era xj would be greatly appreciated.

If u don't have reverse lights wen u shift it into reverse that is caused by your nss switch being overloaded by grease. Coukd use a taking look at and I cleaning and regreasing just a thought might not help but just a thought

Wiggle the headlamp switch stalk and see what happens.

Good idea. Another way to check is to leave the fuse in and check each side of it with a test light. They're made to be tested that way.

Thanks for the suggestion cruiser, i checked the fuses and plugs for fuses everything has power except a 5 anp fuse in top right corner marked INS LPS fuse is good but no power coming to it. I think I remember something about power coming back from headlight switch to the fuse panel. Would this indicate that the headlight swithch is bad?

I did check it with lights turned on and off, no power to that fuse so I replaced headlight switch, contact cleaner on connections and dielectric grease, connector was alittle melted but I made sure all terminals connected, still no tail lights or dash lights
