Default 90 XJ Limited No Electrical Power

Picked up this Cherokee 2 weeks ago and I've driven it 600 miles so far. A few days ago it acted like the battery was low and I had to jump it. So I drove it home from work and put my charger on the battery. Sometime overnight, I believe the hood touched the charging cables and may have shorted something out because now with a fully charged battery (Load Tested Good Yesterday) I get no power to the guages when the key is turned on. No lights, no click trying to start it. I'm guessing I may have blown a fusible link maybe and I need some ideas of what specific wires to check. This one has had a bunch of ghetto wire repairs done on it that I will be fixing but I need to get this thing running. I've cleaned and replaced all of the ground wires and the starter is good.

I have 12.6V at the battery, 12.6V at the green wire just behind the battery at the relay. I have yet to find the fusible link as I can't seem to find a good picture of where they are located.

Any ideas?

I would start by checking all the fuses and relays and go from there.

I guess I should have mentioned that I checked all of the fuses. I'm working on testing the relays but it seems a bit odd that all electrical power is gone so it has to be in the ignition wiring somewhere.

I thought it was the Starter Relay but I found the ground wire connector was loose so I replaced it and it works fine now.

Since you have now experienced first hand the grounding issues with the Renix Jeeps, I suggest you click on the "pink link" in my signature and perform the cheap and easy procedures outlined in posts 1,3,4, and 5.

Cruiser54, thank you for everything you posted in that thread. I already had it bookmarked and I was going down the list yesterday planning to follow your guide to upgrade this Jeep.

Sooner than later is probably a good plan. LOL.
