i have a 89 4 door xj stock (no lift)and on the other hand,i have a 88 2 door with 4 inch lift kit dana 44 on the back (got it for free)my question it's if i can just switch everything from the 2 door to the 4 door (drive shaft/rear axle)the 2 door it's manual and the 4 door it's auto. i am new to jeeps so i don't know much about it .... any help? thanks

 

The only problem that I know of that you will have is the DS lengths. The 4.0, Auto tranny combo is a bit longer then the 4.0, 5-speed combo. So, if you want to swap the axle out of your 5-speed rig, into the auto rig that is fine just don't swap the DS. I put a D44 rear axle out of an 87 XJ, into my 91. Bolted right in.

 

Never tried it but it might be a good idea to measure the driveshafts in place and compare so you'll know before you tear it all apart.
