89 cherokee limited engine replacrment
Ok so my cherokee has almost 300,000 miles on it and has so much blow by in the pistons that my air box fills up with oil. So bought a new engine. I've swapped engines in other vehicles but never a cherokee. I know every vehicle has little tricks to make this process alot smoother. So any tips, suggestions or pointers would help!!!! Thanks
When you take the intake/exhaust manifolds off the two rear most bolts on the bottom side are waaaaaaaaaay easier to tackle from underneath, laying on top of the engine the one in the far back is damn near impossible to put on/off ... I've had the mispleasure of pulling my 88's manifold three times, in my opinion everything else is common sense and easy provided you have the right tools. Good luck with it buddy!

Leave the torque converter seated into the trans if an auto.
Remove the 2 bolts attaching the motor mounts to the frame rail for removal and reinstallation. Don't screw with the long through bolts.
Remove the air cleaner and battery so you have a place to lay the power steering pump and AC compressor.
Install the intake and exhaust manifolds prior to installation.
