89 cherokee with a few problems
Hi there,
I am new to the Jeep owners club, I just bought a 89 cherokee and it has a few problems that I was looking for answers to. First the locks are keyless, I'm not sure if they work or not, but I called a dealership to get a new set (2 doors and a hatch) and they told me the hatch is discontinued. Do I need to call a locksmith to get a key to lock my hatch?
Second I have an instrument cluster with dummy lights and no gauges, I like gauges! I saw an instrument cluster on ebay for a 95-96 will that fit in my 89? They look similar.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure about the key business, but a locksmith will have seen the problem before.
What I would do is to remove your instrument cluster, and check the pigtail that plugs into the back of the printed circuit board. I want to say that I did this swap on my 84 XJ back in the day. Go to a junkyard and find a cluster that you want. Take it apart, and compare the pigtail in that jeep, to the pigtail in your jeep. If they look the same, then I bet it will plug in and work.
Some sending units on various engines are specifically designed for idiot lights, while others are designed for gauges- just an FYI
