88 Jeep Cherokee xj vapor/charcoal canister stock replacement?

I cannot find this charcoal canister it seems to be discontinued does anybody know if there's any way to run around this may be a universal one?

Hi,

I realize that on my 87, I don't have a charcoal canister.
I figured it out while looking for an explanation on WHY there is an unused hole on the AirBox...

Do I need it ?

What to do if I want to remove it the proper way ?
- > what about this hole, should I close it ?
-> the hoses going to the canister, should I find them and do something with them ?
