Dash lights and shift lights are out. The fuse is fine though. Thoughts?

Is every light out? If so, could be your illumination wire damaged somewhere at the light switch.....or maybe even the light switch.

On my XJ, the climate control and 4x4 indicator lights were out. I replaced the bulb in the 4x4 indicator, but forgot to do the climate control one. Gonna have to go back and tear into the dash again.....

I'm having the same problem. Just the dash and the shifter lights, everything else connected to the same ****/dimmer works.
You ever figure this out?

Just replaced my bulbs and all has been working since. My XJ is a 96, so bulbs will eventually burn out and need to be replaced I guess.

So I checked the lights in the instrument panel, they're all In working condition.
Its not the entire dash unit, just the back lights controlled by the dimmer switch. The shifter lights are also included.
The turn signal lights work, as well as the low fuel light and the bights indicator. Any idea what that could be?

Check your tail lights. If you have no dash lights you won't have tail lights too a lot of times. If you do in fact have tail and running lights, you have a dimmer switch issue. Have you installed a new stereo recently?

Turns out it was a fuse, just not the one I thought it was supposed to be. Thanks for the tip!

^^^So, mt dash lights were workin fine for 2 months once i replaced the fuse. Then after my county's fair one night they just stopped working. The headlights still work, all the fuses are fine, highbeam and turn signal lights work, just no backlights or shifter lights...also, my brake lights work but I do not have running lights...?

Where do you suggest looking if the tail lights don't work either?

As said, the tail and dash are on the same fuse. The fuse is in the fuse-box?
