when I had my closed loop setup, I waited till it started running hot then wedged a screwdriver in the thermostat housing hose lifted up and it vented all air. took a total of 5 minutes to do.

Make sure that your fan is running. I wired my electric fan up to a toggle switch so i can turn it off and on in case in forging a river or something

It will overheat pretty quick without the electric fan running.

another purge air method:

1 wait to the motor gets cool
2 lift the rear diferential about 3 inches with a jack
3 unscrew the temp sensor. is located on the head close to the firewall, pilot side
4 let the air out
5 screw with some teflon tape
