Angry 88 cherokee engine help

hi i just bought my first jeep and like it however when going up hill and driving about 35 mph the engine starts chugging and you can her it pop every now and again through the air box. if i put my foot down its fine seems like it only does it when im "cruising". Any ideas ?

sounds like the cps is going out, have you done a tune up on it ?

could be alot of things...
sounds almost like your EGR valve is sticking though.

i havnt done anything to it yet except exchange the airfilter

when mine did this it was the o2 sensor, the EGR is right under the throttle body on the intake manifold w/ a small pipe running to the exhaust manifold and your o2 sensor is about an inch below that. Also make sure the timing is right, of course thats a bit harder to do, look in a chiltons or hanes for that or buy a half rack for someone whos done it before!
