87 XJ Transmission problems. NEED ADVICE
Hello im new to this forum and to owning a xj. I bought a 87 xj with the 5 speed ba 10/5 in it. I have spend all day reading about this transmission today and if i had known what i do now i might have stayed away from the ba 10/5 lol The xj would not go into gear when i bought it but the body inside and out look good and dont look like they have been abused and it ran good so i bought it for $400. Im on a tight budget and trying to get this thing going for as little as possible and do some wheeling.
When i have the clutch pushed in regardless of where the shifter is it makes no noise at all. When i let out on the clutch regardless of what position the shifter is in it makes a loud grinding noise. As soon as i push the clutch in it goes away. The xj has a new clutch , pressure plate , slave cyclinder and throw out bearing. The previous owner said he drove it around the block after installing the new clutch ect... and the transmission made a load noise and hasnt worked since. Do you guys have and idea s what may be the problem or could cause this to happen? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance!!
