I honestly wanted to get after some of your Tips today but damn if it wasn't getting chilly out there for this southern boy.
Get after them!!!!

It was the MAP tube he mentioned. It's 100 times more of a problem than the map, it's self. Never herd of the big 1/2 inch crankcase vent from the front of the VC to the airbox crumbling like a MAP tube.

Did you sometime, get those Bosch injector numbers? Maybe something you don't need to delve into, but is your # here? >>>https://www.polog40.co.uk/article_injector_table.php

I'm betting the tube from the MAP to throttle body has been compromised in the procedure.

ARGH!

I'm getting my **** KICKED six ways from Sunday!

I got working today to start working on the litany of things that I need fix (re: Cruiser's Tips...of which I've not been able to *accomplish* one of them without destroying something, btw).

Quick update: Driving home the other day and "Weird, I don't remember the voltmeter being so low and not working before" couple that with "What was that weird noise?" the other morning, and it turns out my alternator decided to take a ****. Died a mile from home (in the middle of Dallas rush hour, pretty rad timing).

Anyway, get a new Autozone "Gold" alternator and begin installing it (because hey, before I get working on Cruiser's Tips I need to at least get the beast running right?) so anyway, after I loosen the belt I inspect the other pulleys, etc. Water pump bearing is shot, in a big way. I honestly have no idea how it wasn't leaking. Also the idler pulley needs replaced. It's not awful, but needs replaced. So I get on RockAuto and buy the replacement water pump and related gaskets and I think, "hey, let me start prepping for the upcoming water pump change and remove the fan, etc. Well I do so and guess what I find. BRIGHT GREEN LIQUID. Son of Bit*h! My radiator is leaking from both sides. ARGH!

Alright, fine, I need a new radiator as well. Sheesh, fine, Rock Auto again. But hey, before I do this order, let me check some of Cruiser's tips. "I'll just check that rear orifice and see if it's clogged". I pull it out and sure enough, the thing is totally clogged. It looks like some sort of cancerous growth has encompassed the whole thing. Ain't nuttin' gettin' through there. Oh, btw the way. The second I *touched* the grommet, the other end (attached to the manifold) some how imploded on itself instantaneously. Alright, add that to the Rock Auto shopping cart.

Alright, the front vent of the CCV is also totally d*cked as well (ie, I don't have any grommet left at all) but it doesn't seem to be on Rock Auto - they are really fixated on "PCV" vs "CCV". What the heck is the front grommet/90 degree elbow called on their site?

PS, is there any reason I should be looking into converting from "CCV" to PCV" engine breathing?

What the hell else should I buy before I finish this shopping cart? Honestly...ugh...

Belt - check, Hoses - check, fan clutch...was considering the electric fan conversion - what are y'alls thoughts on that?

Also, is there a particular part number for those smaller hoses that come out of the thermostat housing? Mine are bulged out after the hose clamp but I can't find them on Rock Auto.

Well, big break through on the super slow Renix front!

I finally had to bite the bullet on the new exhaust installation even though my new cat hasn't come in yet. The pipes literally rusted apart and was hanging behind the catalytic converter. So I took it down to the local muffler shop and had him install the new pipes and Flowmaster Super 44 with a straight pipe where the cat *will be* (don't get on my case too bad, as soon as it comes in he'll be welding the new one in place )

Anyway, I was pretty astonished with the difference after picking it up. All I can figure is that my old cat was plugged or something else in the system was not allowing full flow. There is a noticeable difference in the seat of the pants and just the overall drive-ability of the truck. Better acceleration, cruising, responsiveness. I'm quite pleased.

I've also ordered a 1990 ECU as well

Now, just gotta find an 88-90 TCU and finish Cruiser's list-o-upgrades!

Yes. It was getting very difficult for me to maintain, add to, edit blah blah the Tips on 5 websites. so, with the help and generosity of salad here on cF, we put the site together.

That makes sense. I especially appreciate the photos and one stop shop for the advice.

ps, drove home with a smile on my face today. I'm amazed about the difference in the Jeep. Gonna hit the grounds next I believe!
