Here is problem I ran into when replacing the turn lever stalk on my 84 xj . When I pulled on stalk to remove as I've seen on videos , my stalk didn't pull out of the switch like the ones in videos , mine pulled into two pieces , a splined shaft coming out wiper switch , and the wiper stalk fits over the splines. The only stalks I can find push into the switch. Any Suggestions ,

I think you need to post a pic. I'm not that familiar with the older gen XJs (and I have an '88). Although I don't see why they would differ. There should be no shaft section left in the steering column

Does yours have other controls on it? Mine has CC and intermittent wipes
