Scrap prices being what they are now the days of $50 XJ's are gone but that's what I paid for an 86 with a 2.8 less than a year ago. Beat the crap out of it and then traded it to a junkyard, the motor still ran fine tranny leaked everywhere and still pulled good. Could have bounced a basketball through the driver's floor.

Depends on the shape of it i would have to say. What is the guy asking. I am a waggy lover and if you are mechanically inclined i would pick it up and do a engine swap. If there is any rust on it RUN LIKE HELL. But if he is asking more than 500 bucks i think you could do better on craigslist. I bought my black 87 for 700 bucks.

I found a nice 1984 waggy in Northern Wisconsin with no rust, interior looked like no ever stepped foot in it and it had 11,000 original miles. It also came with a plow. Then I found out after I popped the hood that it had the 2.8L but I took it for a test drive anyway because I wanted a daily driver. That 2.8 had no power what so ever, so if you were thinking about buying it, think about what you are going to use it for. I decided I wasnt going to settle for anything less then a 4.0L H.O.
