I have a 8.8 and love it. had a d44 in another rig I had and the drums would fill up with mud and water wheeling and the brakes wouldn't work great. 8.8 with disc's and I love it

Here is something that is kind of nagging at me though.. Even though the initial cost of the 8.8 is much less it seems that by the time you get it fabricated and all the crap to make it work you just caught up with or passed the cost of a d44.. I see some d44s on ebay for 600.00 $ hmmmm... what do you all think about that??

Yeah I need to check out those.. ok so here is another question.. I might just bite the bullet and spend 300 ucks for an 8.8... at the kunkyard the are selling some with 4.10 gears but they all have limited slip differentials.. I want 4.10's but what is the deal with not being able to put aussie lockers in them? I might just run the stock LSD for a while for off roading but eventually I would want to upgrade.. would I have to replace the axle or could I just switch the carriers? Also what are the opinions on the stock 8.8 LSD off road?
