I'm a low cog guy my self and I'd rock a 6.5 kit from Clayton or rock krawler. there is also a member on here that build arms and a crossmeber you need to get springs and shocks up front and rear lift on your own.

what type of wheeling do you do?

i'm stopping at 6-7" (i'm guessing as i have pieced it to 5in and don't know what i'll end up finding) xjs are narrow any higher then 6.5 i would say you better start thinking of wider axles to get it more stable..that and unless you go 35s 8" will look funny IMHO

@irongrave: mostly mud and snow, not too big on the whole rock crawling, pretty much cause we dont have rocks up here.

@alloutperfrom: thanks for the advice, what about going with 10 inch rims and maybe some wheel spacers. would that help?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO wheel spacer only help create deathwobble!!!!!!!!!!! 10s are ok but both will beat the bag out of your wheel bearings

wide wheels and spacers=snapped shafts all day long on a dana 30. will also lead to a bent housing if its not trussed.

I'd say stick with the 6.5" if you have to ask.

im from montana, ya there is areas i could go rock crawling but i dont feel like driving 300 miles to get to them, when i have a nice mud hole right here

@gee oh dee: only reason i ask is because its nice to find a good median. i had a 90 bronco 2 that i built a 10inch lift for it with 35's. it topped out at about 45 and got stuck in 6 inches of snow. i also had a 04 f350 that i put a 6 on and it just wasnt enough, i wanna find that sweet spot right in between.

different animals all together the xj is far more capable then most full sizes if i were you stick with an 8" rim and you will be far happier in mud and snow...10s will kill ya in both and invest in a locker..my ideal set up is 6in lift 33s on 8" rims and a locker good all around and will take most of what you give it
