5spd trans help
Ok I just bought this today its a 88 4.0 5spd. It needs a pass side axle and the 5spd is bad in it.but it has a rough country 4.5 lift with extended brake lines, adjustable track bars and add a leaf and 33s.the guy I bought it from said only a 5spd from a 87-89 would fit it.is this true or can I get a trans from another year cherokee? thanks

You can convert it over to any cherokee 5 spd. But as far as drop in replacement yeah those are the only years that had the BA10/5 in it.

Google image both...the BA10 is split in the middle. Easy to see the difference once you know what they look like. Or post a pic and we'll tell you...forget the#'s let us see!

Google is your Friend. Here is a link for both AX-15 & BA10/5. I found this useful when my AX-15 took a crap.
BA10/5: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ba10_5.htm
AX-15: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ax15.htm
Post what you find. Good Luck!

You just need to make sure the output of the tranny matches the input of the x-fer case. There are spline count and depth differences. I believe the Peugeot tranny has a 21 spline output (therefore your x-fer case will have a 21 spline input). I think that all the AX-15 and NV3550s have 23 spline outputs. When I swapped out my BA5/10 for an NV3550, I had to install a different input gear into my x-fer case.
