5 lug... to 8 lug...
without spacers and cutting the axles up... does anyone know a way to convert the D30 and D44 to 8 lugs? i search a bit and found one guy saying the 78 and 79 ford f250's had D44 rears with 8 lugs... and the parts should just swap over... but that all i could find so figured id ask around with yall... see what we could come up with... i would think there would be a drum for the back you could swap out with 8 lugs that would fit fine but that would be to easy i guess... as for the front i have no idea... lol

why?
if you want 8 lugs get 1 tons.
and parts from random axles will rarely ever bolt up to other random axles. different shaft lengths, bearing options, brake options, flanges, wms to flange depth, and numerous other things

pretty sure the f250 from 78-79 only came with a d60 rear, possibly 9". some had d44hd front. others like the snow fighter had d60. not completely sure if they were 6 or 8 lug.
but yeah, why would you want to convert? the only way i can see it is with adapters. but then they might be too large for your disk break calipers.

UNless you can find an 8 lug unit bearing you are kinda screwed. I am sure you can get warns d44 full float kit, and have 8 lug xj d44. just be prepared to spend some bucks

You can do the D30 by changing knuckles and then using the ford spindle and outer axle shafts, which will also mean you have to change the inner shafts so you can use the heavier ujoint. This will give you hubs too. The rear is going to require some custom hubs or custom wheel spacer or a D60

i guess nothing looks to be only alittle complicated... all seems to be crazy and cheaper just to run 8 lug axles... oh well... but i was in the JY this morning getting a drivers door handle and window handle so i looked around alittle... found alot of the first pic which im pretty sure was the D60's... there everywhere... the second pic is smaller and am pretty sure its a D44 cause it didnt look like the rest and was a 8 lug... dont remember the year but it was a square bodied ford... i did find a ford 250 1967 with a 8 lug and im almost positive a D44 in it... but couldnt get a good pic... kept coming out dark... both the d44 8 lug prospects had that almost oval shaped back with the 4 bolts in each corner kinda setup...
