I heard that a tcase drop puts stress on a linkage somewhere. Should I avoid 4x4 because of it? Ill be getting an she sometime soon, I just have a few other things that need to be inaugurated before then

She's going to take the stress off of your linkage, after some inauguration? lmao

Yes a transfer case drop has these negative side effects:
- Increased stress on motor & transmission mounts
- Increased stress on transfer case and transmission linkage
- Reduced ground clearance
- In XJs with low-pinion front axles (2000+ MY), worsens front drive shaft angles

Tons of people wheel with transfer case drops, but don't be surprised when the items above start behaving strangely or failing prematurely.

It's not a "delay" so much as it is incomplete engagement when you're not moving. The transfer case was designed to be shifted on the fly.

As a matter of fact, you could take any older Ford, Jeep, or Chevy and if you had the hubs engaged, shift on the fly also. No big deal.

Well, how's the fluid level in the transfer case?

Do you make your shifts in one quick movement?
