Part Time describes WHEN you can use it not that it's in 4wd part of the time. In other words, you can't drive around Full Time in Part Time 4wd without damaging your drivetrain. You must be on loose surfaces. BTW, doesn't your driver's side visor have instructions/descriptions of the 4wd usage on it?

My visor has been torn off and has custom fabric on it. I just remember that every time I hit it in 4 lo it would flash full time. What you say does make sense though. I just thought 4 lo was full time regardless

I'm not sure you understand the Full Time/Part Time thing. Full Time is for on road/icy/snowy/heavy rain times when you can just leave it in and it won't bind on turns. Part Time is for off road only.

4LO doubles your effective gearing causing you to go slower and should be used off road only when slow speeds and high torque are needed.

What is the shift pattern of your tcase? I am going to assume you have 2HI, 4HI, N and 4LO. This the NP231 tcase and is part time 4wd only.

If you had a full time transfer case (NP242) it would specifically have 4 Full Time and 4 Part Time position.
