4X4 Light after 231 Swap
Heres the skinny. My NP 242 T-Case was trashed chain kicked and broke the case. I had access to a free NP 231, so hey why not. Anyhow the 1992 model if equipped came with a 4 way vacuum switch that turned on the 4x4 indicator in the dash. The NP 242 had a 2 wire switch. The plug is the same for the switch I plugged it in and cannot get the 4X4 indicator to come on when 4x4 is engaged. Has anybody had any experience with this or any success on getting it working? If all else fails I will just wire it up a different way. Just curious thanks guys.

I have done the swap but my lights don't work either. But a 97 tj 231 switch will replace the vacuum switch with a electric switch and plugs right in just won't light up if you figure this out let me know thanks.

Yours shouldnt have the vacuum disconnect axle and vacuum switch, 91 was the last year with the vacuum set up, 92 and up was controlled by the little electric switch that goes on the back of the tcase. What year 231 tcase did you get?
