Default 4x4 issue!

I recently installed new ball joints, and bushings all around. Yesterday I went out for some 4x4'n. I found that I now have a know in 4wheel drive.. I had to remove the front axles to access the ball joint. Did I mess something up reinstaling them? It is a metal on metal kind of sound.

Thats the brake protector plate right?
The sound dosent come in 2wd. Also there seams to be alot more noise when driving down the road in 4x4. Like something is rubbing/scraping

Oh..........then your noise might be something different. My backing plate would only rub for a second when I had my wheels turned to the right while backing up (like backing out of a parking space) but, it was a horribly loud noise.
A long screwdriver (to get through the wheel) and a couple of taps with a hammer made it go away.
