Okay, now that the snow is here,
I was wondering if anyone had a answer to this. On some ares of the road there will be slick surfaces, on others there will be dry ground. So the question is this, can I switch between 2wl to 4h intermitantly for the road surface [to avoid crow-hopping] throughout my drive without damaging my TC? I have a 2001 XJ Sport.....

But I get severe Crow hop that will propell me forward by skipping on wet or dry ground. Unless I'm accelerating while turning, It shudders the whole frame. I've been switching back and forth. Can this hurt the TC?

In your profile it says that you have an NP242 transfer case...
IF you do..put it in full-time 4wd.. and drive it like you stole it. Full-time is intended for exactly the conditions you are describing.
The part time transfer cases are the ones that will bind-up and cause damage on dry pavement sections.
Take it easy getting on the accelerator when in any 4x settings. That is going to help the hopping and binding feeling. But a full time transfer case is designed to take this type of binding. There is internal parts designed to compensate for that.
