i had a similar problem but my linkage was missed up. you might want to check that out.

The linkage bushings may be worn or missing.

I will check that out tomorrow. It's dark out right now. Thanks for the info. Any other ideas on what it could be?

Hey did you get the 4WD issue resolved? I am having a similar issue and could use the help. I can manually shift the transfer case but the linkage wont budge. After reading this thread I am interested to check out the linkage bushings BlueXJ mentioned tomorrow.
