I want to convert my XJ I just purchased from 2wd to 4wd (Yeah I'm one of them) My 93' is a Sport 4 door 4.0L, AX-15. I have a few Salvage yards near my AO and from there I am planning on grabbing the parts necessary for the swap. The reason I am converting this instead of buying a factory 4x4 is my XJ was a one owner vehicle and was babied. Besides me getting it for Hardly nothing because the original owners bought some new high end rides.

I know I will need to grab the Dana30, 4x4 transmission, Shifter, transfer-case, drive shafts, and linkage. Besides those obvious parts, what other parts do I need to grab from the donor vehicle ? Do I have to swap out any gears in the speedo ?

I'm just trying to get a complete parts list together if one of the donor vehicles have everything available.

Your list pretty much covers it. the speedo gear change is dependent on tire size not whether or not it is 4x4. Suspension and steering is all the same. You will need to make sure the gears in the D30 you get match those in your rear end. Might be better to get both a front and rear axle from the same donor. I would look for a 97-99 donor with a C8.25 rear axle.
