4wd to 2wd

Default 4wd to 2wd

yeah yo read that correctly i have a 4wd jeep that i want to make 2wd .. so the Question is can i take the tail off the transfer case and bolt it onto the transmission ....

The transmission is actually diff. But you can always just leave the trans case remove the front axle and DS. What year jeep? And where are u located

ummm, why? fuel economy? It will still be bad on gas either way

Ya you need a 2wd tranny. If your just trying to save gas I guess you could find someone converting 2wd to 4wd and just trade but I dont think your ganna really save anything to really notice.

You will also need a drive shaft.

Why do you say that should work. The trans for a 2wd and 4wd are diff. They have diff part number and the the shaft on a 2wd is longer than a 4wd.

I maybe wrong and I just searched to try and find a past post where I learned this but could not.

The input shaft on the two wheel drive aw4 is like 8" longer than the 4x4 aw4. This is why it takes a total tear down when doing the 4x2 to 4x4 swap. It would be the same for you. Its easier to get a different trans when swapping. Doing this kind of work is like doin your second cousin in may seem like a good idea but afterwards you'll feel guilty.
