Default 4cyl electric fan

are any of you 4 banger owners running an electric fan? If so what did you get it off of or did you just but a universal one? Is a fan shroud needed for an electric fan to cool a 4cyl?

thanks,
-Nathan

I have one for a taurus, not sure what year that is a single fan with shroud that that almost fits the 4 cyl radiator perfectly.

I have a duel fan setup from a Dodge, Plymouth Neon. It has two stages. One fan runs all the time and the other one kicks in when the AC is on or it goes above 220. I ride the beach in the heat of summer with my XJ loaded with ppl and supplies with the air on and mine does not go above 200 ever...Tj
PS the fan cost me $25

I have the 4banger and with a small engine you can definitely feel the improvement without that heavy prop on the front. I bought a $75.00 fan that nearly covered the radiator and then cut a square piece of aluminum with a hole in the center. I widened the hole until there was only an inch or so on each side to mount it to the radiator. Works very well with a thermostatic switch and probe in the upper coolant line, or you could just run a switch to the cab and keep an eye on the temp gauge. The engine warms faster on cold mornings and cools quickly on a hot day, and I run an override switch to keep it on on the trail or switch it off for water crossings. Use a relay after your switch, fans usually draw 20-30 amps.

I'm running a 2000 cfm fan. Here's some info (guess my fan's overkill)
