i have a 98 cherokee limited 2wd, i am ordering a lift kit and need to know what axle i have, anybody know an easy way of telling?

Anyway, enough of being a smartass...
You either have a D35 or Chry 8.25 as mentioned earlier.
The 8.25 will have a flat lip along the bottom of the diff housing, the 35 will not.
Here is a picture:

Dana35


Chrysler 8.25




you will notice both have 10 bolt, oval shaped housings. but on the 8.25, you have the lip that hangs down on the bottom. the Dana35 does not have that lip.

im thinking chrysler 8.25... it doesnt have as big as a dip as the dana and looks to have that bottom lip, but i dont think it has the flat lip as defiance said earlier
