Default glad to be corrected

Radio Flyer,

Thanks for correcting me, I was just regurgitating what I've heard from a few sources on this site, but I LOVE to hear that the 2.8 to I6 is doable. I have that same tan plastic interior with no carpet. I would love to see a write up of the engine thread if you have one or have pictures and time. I think many of the guys on here with 2.8's would like that.

Woohoo good news.

I'm pretty satisfied with my 4cyl, plenty of room to work around in the engine bay and really good gas mileage. Pulling and putting one of those in is much easier than a 4.0, its easy to move around on the engine stand and mount to the bay.

alpine.adrenaline:
how does your 4cyl do as far as power and torque? I'm not too concerned about gaining any power.. I just dont want to lose any power.

Engine: puny lil 4 cyld... 2,5 litres, I-4, carburettor
Default

i have an 85 with the 2,5 litre, I-4, carburettor in it. its a 4 speed, and i get about a tank or gas a week out of it. i typically work 6 days a week, and drive 30 minutes each way if theres no traffic.
the only downfall i can really think of is i'm doing alot of downshifting to 3rd to get up the hills around here. i will agree that theres plenty of room to work under the hood

i have the 2.5 liter four cylender 200,000 on the odometer and still runsstrong ive got 31s with stock gearing and it struggles a lil bit gotta keep it pinned to the floor to maintatin 75 on the highway if the winds in my favor lol. i got a sticky lifter that knocks real bad and it blows oil to the airfilter like a fountain but still runs good. i wouldnt advise doin a swap to a four though id just spend the money and get a six r even a chevy 350 would be worth considering

The 3.4 is a much better engine. If you get one from the 92-3 vintage, they have fuel injection and put out 160 hp. Not that much different than the rennix 4.0L Plus I am sure there are aftermarket ponies you can add.

Yah it would be cheaper, I went through this whole debate a while ago. In the end I decided that I liked my jeep too much to just trade it in, (plus its a 2 door). I'm gonna keep my 2.8 limpin' along till I have the money to do the 3.4L swap, but that was just my choice.
If you want the 4.0 you could probably buy a jeep with the I6 in it for not much $ and then just swap everything you've got into it. Cheaper than doin an engine swap

I have the 2.5 motor and hate it. I cant git it to stay alive. its one thing after another. so i polled it.It might be ok for some people but i cant poll this bed and trailer for what i do. i need more torque! and i like my truck to much to go bigger.
this it what I am looking at in stalling.
jeep I6 4.0L 173hp renix and ho190hp "hi out put" Chrysler fuel injection system with 220lb-ft

the 4.3 150-200hp 245 -260lb-ft
. The thing about this is the trany and t-case will bolt in the jeep's old trany mount's with the the T-case on the right side for the front axial.

the
Mercedes-Benz OM617 2.8L not for positive on the size Torque was rated at 170 lb·ft with 123 hp

and now maybe vm 2500 turbo if i can even fine one
or git the info

if i was dreaming a cummins 4bt 3.9L 130hp and a whopping 355lb-ft
man I would settle for a cummins b3.3 a3.3L 85hp and 215lb-ft http://www.proffittscruisers.com/eng...nversions.html this is the site that will do the motor swap justest
