Well to honest I am mainly looking for a great hwy gear with the 33s. It will be driven on the street ALOT. I am changing the gears in the tcase so it will be lower for crawling. I am after great power and gas mileage. I don't want to feel like its a workout to drive it 70-75 MPH .

What kind of mileage are you all getting with 33s

Default On the 10'th or 12'th day God gave the Jeep 4:88's

I have a lo-per 4.0 A/T, 31" tires and the 4:88's give me a nice responsive Jeep. I get 16 mpg towing a 3500lb travel trailer. If gas milage was my holy grail I'd drive a Honda.

I am running 4.56s on 35s and wish I had done 4.88s.. I will likely go to 33s if I can not make it work right on the trail

i often hear of people complaining about not having low enough gears

i never hear of people complaining about having too low gears.

friend of mine ran 5.13's with 31's 18 mpg at 65 mph

for an engine to run most efficiently you want to keep it in the power curve.

what sucks up milage is constantly changing gears for hills, slipping the torque converter, lugging the engine.

and dont ask me how i know, but...
at 97 mph im runnin 3600 rpms

I have a stock 1987 4-speed transmission with a 4-cylinder TBI 2.5L engine pushing 31x9.5s, what gear ratio do I have and what ratio would be ideal for my engine on 33's?

highest you can get is 4.88, so that. your stock gears are probably 4.10
