Default 4.10 gears with 31's and AX-15

So, I read the 13 page thread on gears, but there's not too much info if you have the manual AX-15. I'm thinking of running 31's or 32's on my 99'. It's a DD primarily around town. Looking for advice from people who run a similar setup. Would 4.56 be a better choice? Thanks

If you have the straight 6 the 4.10's and 31's comes out to be almost the same as stock. Your speedo will be off. You will ned to get the appropriate speedo gear. I would pay to have it regeared though. I would look for stock axles out of a 4cyl xj.

I am personally running 4.10's with 33's. I wish I would have goe 4.88's, but thats mostly cause I rock crawl and wan't the lower gearing.

I ran 4.56's on 31's for a while.
Around town it was perfect.
On the highway 2500rpm was 65mph, 3000rpm was 75mph.

I would have gone 4.88's but at the time there were none avialable for the 8.25 axle.
I am now on 33's, looking to go to 34's, and the 4.56's are great around town and on the intersate, but I went to a 4:1 t-case gear set to get the crawl speed down in the rocks.

So, what am I saying?
I don't think you'll stay at 31's, that is based on my experience.
If you are re-gearing for off road, and are willing to give up some Interstate cruising speed, I would recommend you gear to 4.56's... and if you think you will ever step to a tire greater than 33, just go whole hog on 4.88's now and live with the reduced Interstate speed until you put 33-34-35's on it.

My opinions above are based on the rig being a daily driver, which mine is.

I am currently gearing my new axles at 4.56 and I'm running 33's.
