I believe you need to use the flex from your original motor, not 100% sure tho

the point im trying to get across is there is a cam shaft difference in the two motors maybe the dist or the crank sensor need to be used from the new motor dont no if the fltwheels are different ?

im thinking more torque the valves might be staing open alittle longer the old fly wheel may not be ksending a long enough signal to the in jectors to stay open applying more fuel . iwould check and see if both motors take the same crank sensor .sync sensor and torque convertor or ring gear to make sure the signals are on the same page

couldnt the wrong flex plate be a root cause to this? A good way to confirm to to take your original flex plate to the junkyard and compare it to the same yr/generation motor you have in there.
I have a feeling they changed the flex plate from renix era to HO yrs.
Do you have any check engine light? tested the fuel pressure? Which distributor your using and sensor?
