So fresh off the heels of my bearing, u joint and rear brakes repair I came out to see my jeep had started leaving some little puddles of green pee everywhere. It did this for a few days, I looked under to see and it seemed like the coolant was in fact coming from the water pump. Not being able to afford it that day I drove only when necessary.
I kept the coolant topped with a jug in the Jeep. But to my surprise for the last day and a half I have found no puddles. No leaking, nothing. Temp is going up to 100 and then dropping back a bit as the t stat opens up just like it always did. Can a water pump go like this? Could this be a different problem? I don't want to waste money on a pump I don't need as I am ballin' on a budget, but the lack of leakage has me stumped now.
Oh and vehicle is a 96 Cherokee.

I have the cash for the pump today but don't want to buy it if it is not leaking. I have heard of water pumps being off and on while leaking but this is a little crazy to me.
Maybe you have some stop leak in the system that temporarily stopped it. If you are using conventional green silicate antifreeze the silicates (water glass) will stop small leaks.

If you have the money. Do yourself and your Jeep a favor and change the pump. It is possible that you have a piece of crud blocking the weep hole on the pump or where ever the pump is leaking from. You would be better of changing it then being broken down some where or worst, over heating it and causing more damage.
