I had a hooker turbo muffler on mine and it broke a month after I put it on it was alittle quieter than i wanted anyway so I replaced it with a thrush 18" glasspack and like the sound on my 98 it kinda has a rally car sound too it

Cherry bomb extreme. Do it. I just put one on and it has a nice tone. Not loud, but a nice tone. Without the tailpipe it was loud and very deep sounding. I gotta look into what kind of tailpipes would make it louder to really get the sound I want out of it without being obnoxious. I heard the flowmaster 40 or 44 was good also, but I went with the cherry bomb since it was cheaper and I liked the sound a little better. Don't waste your time with that old rusty glasspack. It'll sound ricey. I'm assuming you have the 4.0 also.

$12.50 per 100lbs by me in PA. Its good to replace it to keep it legal for inspection or other reasons, but only temporarily. Some guys like the sound, I personally don't. I prefer to get a good model for the quality and sound. If the stock muffler is already rusted, go for it. Can't hurt nothin right? But only if the old muffler has a huge hole in it or it fell off or anything else that would make it illegal to drive until you get a good one.
