Can you put a AX5 behind a 4.0 HO?

Sure! Do you want to? Probably not...unless it's already there. Like if you swapped out a 2.5L for a 4.0L.

Yeah I just got a 4.0 but I have the 2.5 in right now

isn't the Ax5 for the 2.5? If you have the 4.0 get the AX15.

Yes completely different bellhousing. The ax5 uses the 2.5's gm bellhousing pattern, and the ax5 is a very weak tranny. Would be like going from a D60 to a D35. Would cost you more to adapt the ax5 to the 4.0 than a aw4 would cost you on craigslist..
