So I am putting a 96 block in my 89. I have read Cruisers Renix to HO. Is the reason for changing oil filter housing because the motor mount is in the way? And with 89 to 96 will motor mount right up to my transmission? AW-4 auto trans in both Jeeps. Help me please.? Thanks

You're good to go.

You can use either oil filter adapter as long as you use the filter designed for it.

Can you swap a 4.0 ho that was paired with an auto into a 89 Comanche 5 speed?

Yes. Use the flywheel from the 89.

You read my instructions?

Great job on the swap.

What are your concerns on the axle swaps?

My main concerns are what needs to be used from 89 and vica versa. Also would i be better off going posi-lock on front or just upgrading? Im looking to build low cog type setup not sure if that matters. Will run 3in lift with 33x12x50. As of now gearing is still stock 3.55 and i was thinking of 3.73?!.. Just on a budget and concerned about putting funds in the right places. I have axles but both need new brakes ect.. Thank you for the help!!

Just eliminate the CAD front axle crap.

Interesting thread, I will have to keep all this in mind when the day comes, if and when my engine fails.

I am planning to part out my 1996 To use on my 1989
1996 has 8.25 axle and D30 without the disconnect.
1989 has D35 and D30
Question, will the brakes be the same? no ABS.
Engine sounds like a piece of cake for fit.
Will the 1996 water pump be able to be used in the 1989? All other accessories are new in the 1989. and,
Will the A/C bypass pulley in the 1989 work to eliminate the A/C on the 1996 engine?
