Default 35" tires

Hey everyone. Ive got a 4.5" rubicon ex on my xj, its got a 1.5" spacer out front to level it out from my TNT bumper and winch. Im regearing and going to new tires at somepoint soon, i was originally going to go for 33s, but 35s arent much more at all, maybe $20 or $50 more per set, 4.56 gears are close to if not hte exact same prcie as 4.10s, and hte labor wouldnt change. My fenders are trimmed in the front and wether i put 33s or 35s on im going to do some light rear trimming (avoiding hte pinch welds obviously), so i mean if its gonna cost me the same, maybe i should run teh 35s? All id have to do is add like maybe some 1-2" rear shackles and some 5.5" or 6.5" front springs and im good. I already have a SYE and CV drive shaft, and i got the reverse cut/HP30 front with a 8.25 on 29 splines out back, so i know my truck can handle it.

My questions:

1. 4.10s will give me better gas mileage with hte 33s than my current 3.07s give me with my 32s i think, but what about 4.56s on 35s? The extra hight may cause some slowing down, but what do you think?

2. As for more lift, im guessing parts can be had for under $500 (springs and shackels), but do I need any other parts? Keep in mind my lift kit has all new ctrl arms and all that stuff....

3. And finally, would 1" more lift be enough or should i go for 2"? If 1" i can use the 5.5" RE springs, but if 6.5" i think id have to get like rough county's...

*Anyway, give me your 2 cents!

for 33's i would go with 4.56.

as for the tire size, i wouldnt go any higher with your lift. Just leave it where it is and bumpstop and trim accordingly.

here we go
1. if your gonna lift a jeep your gas shouldnt be a thought. its gonna suck.

2. i dont think you should need any more parts.

3. if you spend the money on a 4.5 rubi you should be able to run 35s without much trouble. if it was me i wouldnt add anything else. you have a nice lift on it i would be weary of putting more "cheap" parts on a nice lift.

If you do decide to go higher then I would plan on running RE drop brackets to better your control arm angles and improve your ride quality.

save money by not lifting it higher and run some longarms. you will be happier in the end.

4.88's are more ideal for 35's

4.88s for 35s and 4.56s for 33s? i heard that 4.10s are right about perfect to stock for 33" tires. in addition to that, i dont have the 3.55 gears like you guys, i have 3.07s since its a manual. if anythign 4.56 may be gearing it too low anyway, some have told me 4.10s would be best for 35s even. if i went to 4.88s on 35s id be at like 3,000 rpm doing 60mph lol.

Kyle, those drop brackets you refering to is exactly what i was talking about. Those are the things that i thought i might need, do they work well? I dont by any means want a long arm though. And yes i am weary about adding crappy parts to an amazing lift, but i might go for like 5.5" springs from rubi express and some 1" shackles from a decent company. I dont think steering will be a problem. Kyle how much was that drop bracket kit? was it hard to install?

My buddy ran 37s on 4.56 gears, no problems at all, he was locked and loaded and did some crazy trail runs with it. Never broke anything and it ran good on the highway

what about running 35s on just 4.5" of lift? Someone mentioned that should be fine, my front fenders are trimmed like crazy and my rears will be soon as well. Im okay with whatever happens offroad, b/c it wont be seeing much off roading for a while, but as far as on road goes will this be okay? Because that is the only thign really holding me back is that extra lift I'll have to get.

Get the drop brackets if you don't go long arm. They are worth it and many cherokee owners with 4.5+ use them with great results.

But first, ask yourself, are 35's worth it? Do i need 35's for my kind of wheeling? If yes, go ahead.

well no of course i dont need them, 33s would be just fine. but i want my truck to be as high as possible, just drove my friends YK on 37s around at work yesterday and i about cried. i want mine to be at least a little closer to that height. go big or go home.

But, if properly geared (33/35s with 4.10/4.56s, respectively) would 35s still give me worse gas mileage than 33s? i mean how much worse? I know the extra height/weight will require a little more skinny pedal to push..

i ain't big so i guess i gotta go home.

Remember ya don't have always have to be equal or the same as everyone else.

But if you really want the 35's, nothing's stopping you.

I'm putting 33's on this week, I'll probably have to run low range. LOL Not to many people on here running bigger than 33's and if they are there trail rigs that don't get much road use.

just because one isolated person did it and was able to conquer trails lesser built rigs couldnt, doesn't mean its the most ideal setup.
