Default 31's & Stock Rims

I traded off my 225's for four 31x10.5 & 2 235 BFG all terrains (gonnna use the 235's as spares or get rid of them) I am just goin to run these in the winter. So my question is i have the stock steel rims, will the 31's fit(i am 99% sure they will just wanna double check)

yep... they will. As long as the tire width is within about 4" of the wheel width you are good.

They may rub on the LCas though. Will be fine going straight, but turns may be kinda grabbing on the mid section of the LCAs.

If you look at my photos and see the gold basketweave rims they were the stocks and I needed tires so I put them on my OEM rims until my Soft 8s got here and they were fine until I made a sharp turn. HTH kmanxj

I put some 31's on my factory 16" classic wheels and they rub on the LCA's when turning.

Unless the backspacing is different on the soft 8's then it wont keep them from rubbing. 4.5" is a good backspacing for 31's if you don't want them to rub. I run 3.73 with mine.

31x10.5's on stock XJ rims WILL rub LCA. Unless you have the LCA swapped with the WJ (Newer GC 1998-2004) LCA's that are bent inward at the center from factory AND re-adjust your steering stops.

31x10.5's on 8" wide rims w/3.75 BS...won't rub the LCAs
This is the set-up I have and have not had ANY rubbing.

The will rub and grab at full lock. The lift height helps you put the bigger tire on vertically but it wont help you when you turn the tire horizontally. I would defiantly get the soft 8's from your buddy. It would be a good investment. Also with that much lift I would consider running a bigger tire than 31's. Maybe 33X10.50, that's what I plan on running on mine. I would say a 12.50 but I wouldn't mount them on 7" rim.

Well if your just using them as some street tires then you'll probably be fine, Unless you want to make some real sharp turns in a parking lot, or a tight u-turn. You'd probably be just fine then with the stock ones.
