I have 31x10.5's with a 3inch lift (springs and add a leaf), and had to trim the inner fender skirt to stop it from rubbing on full turn. I doubt with stock ride height even 30's would fit well. A quick google search turned up that 30's will fit, but will rub. I used to run 29x10.5 swamper tsl/sx's and they looked good and fit real well.

I was able to fit 30"s with no rub, so I am gonna shoot for a 2" lift and 31"s.......eventually. It really depends on how much your original springs have sagged. I have seen pictures of XJs with 225-235s that looked like they would rub if they put a tire on a curb.

you can run almost whatever you want with the right amount of trimming, and bumpstops. I saw a pic on here of someone with 2" BB with 37's, but from what i have found----
2" can run 30's
3" can run 31's
and if you want to cut up your ride you could go bigger
Not sure what kind of lift your running but those scenarios are a general rule of thumb with xj's

if you have the 3.55 gears, i would run 30s. i have 31s on my cherokee and with the 3.55 gears, it sucks. gas mileage dropped to 10mph and i can't pass grandma on her beach cruiser anymore
