Default 3 out of 4 aint bad right?

Found out today that only 3 wheels stop when the brake is applied. My driver rear keeps spinning whether my foots on the brake or the ebrake is engaged. The passenger stops. All hardware, shoes etc. replaced and new. Is it just normal? Funny thing is that in neutral it stops. It's adjusted. I can only turn the wheel about 1 and a half turns before it stops so I know the brakes are making some contact withe the drums. Why wouldn't it be engaging once in drive/reverse?

Did you adjust the rear shows or are you allowing the "self adjusters" to take care of things?

My take on self adjusters is this:

"Adjust the brakes YOURSELF."

My self adjusters don't work anyways... Yes, I adjusted them myself. Still no brakes on that wheel.

Not much else it could be. Describe your adjusting procedure.

Well, I adjust it until the shoes make a snug fit with the drum. I simply just turn the adjuster as it pushes the shoes outward.

If you bleed that wheel cylinder does the fluid flow easily by gravity or do you have to pump hard on the pedal?

If you have to pump hard on the pedal, then maybe you have a clog or kink in the line going to that wheel.

That's what I thought, but it didn't hold back when I changed the wheel cylinder. So the fluid was getting there. And yes when I bled them it was normal like the rest. I'm gonna bleed them tonight.

If bleeding them again doesn't help you may want to pull the drum again and make sure that something didn't come loose or you didn't accidentally put something on wrong. Also when you bleed them are you bleeding them in the correct sequence? Start at the rear passenger, then rear drivers, front passenger then front drivers.

If bleeding not solves issue, possibly faulty wheel cylinder itself?
(Before replacing cylinder, did you have same symptom? Or did you have more brake than you have now on that wheel?)

I'm just doing my rear drums on my 98 and found that the previous owner had put the adjusting wheel in backwards on the driver's side. I'm doing the passenger's side tonight and expect to find the same thing. The symptom for this is a gradually increasing tendency for the jeep to drift when braking on a curve at high speed. This is not good. I adjusted them manually when I first got the jeep and did not notice the deterioration in handling.

Another warning on the adjusters is don't mix up the left and the right side. If you do, they will both wind down to full close an you'll have the same symptom immediately. The driver side is the one with the left-hand thread.

Really tripping me out. "Have not bled brake yet" did it before but doing it again now my drivers wheel stops and passengers side spins.
