3" lift
Hello, I have been wanting a lift for a while now, and I think it's about time to go for it. I think I would a want a 3" lift, but I have a few questions. Would I need a t case drop, and if so, how much? Also, would I need a SYE? I'm not worried about ride quality, but what kind of drop in mpgs should I expect? I don't do any extreme off roading, but I do go on some trails. Also, this is my DD. Thank you in advance.

I've got a 3" kit ready to go in this weekend. Lift it, if you get vibes, drop the t-case. If that doesn't take care of it for some reason, or if you want to gain the ground clearance back, do a SYE when you can. Change in mpg's will probably be minute from the lift alone, but bigger tires have a more noticable effect.

SYE: Prolly not
MPG drop: You only lose MPGs when you put big tires on it (32's and above is where its gets noticeable)
Hope this helps

Like ^ said: every jeep is different but generally newer xjs (1997+) are more likely to get vibes but like they said, for a 3" lift you should be fine with a tcase drop and maybe some shims(if you even need them).

That would be the best way to go if you can afford it. I went from 225/75 to 31x10.5 tires (about 2.5" taller and 2" wider if I remember correctly) and my MPG dropped by about 3. You shouldn't really notice any MPG difference if you stick with the stock tires.

I just installed the 2" EMU lift and I have vibrations now too. Another member on here sells a 1" t-case drop kit for $20 shipped but I can't remember where I found it.
The emu was rated at "2 inches" but I got three out of it. I definetly have the vibes though. G/L with ur decision..

Installed a 3" Rough Country Series II kit a few months ago now. I do have vibrations and am going to be installing a T-case drop to see if that works, which I'm sure will. Here are a couple of pics of mine lifted.
These were taken right after the lift was installed. Still had 225/70/16's on it and still does but plan on upgrading to 31/10.5/15's before winter.
Good luck
