Default 3" lift

Hello, I have been wanting a lift for a while now, and I think it's about time to go for it. I think I would a want a 3" lift, but I have a few questions. Would I need a t case drop, and if so, how much? Also, would I need a SYE? I'm not worried about ride quality, but what kind of drop in mpgs should I expect? I don't do any extreme off roading, but I do go on some trails. Also, this is my DD. Thank you in advance.

I've got a 3" kit ready to go in this weekend. Lift it, if you get vibes, drop the t-case. If that doesn't take care of it for some reason, or if you want to gain the ground clearance back, do a SYE when you can. Change in mpg's will probably be minute from the lift alone, but bigger tires have a more noticable effect.

Tcase drop: Maybe, I can't say for sure cuz every jeep is different. Buy the lift, if there are any vibs, put one on.

SYE: Prolly not

MPG drop: You only lose MPGs when you put big tires on it (32's and above is where its gets noticeable)

Hope this helps

Like ^ said: every jeep is different but generally newer xjs (1997+) are more likely to get vibes but like they said, for a 3" lift you should be fine with a tcase drop and maybe some shims(if you even need them).

Just lifted mine 3" and I do need a transfer case drop. Vibrations are definitely noticeable. Probably don't need an SYE at that height, but if money allows, go for it. That would be the best way to go if you can afford it. I went from 225/75 to 31x10.5 tires (about 2.5" taller and 2" wider if I remember correctly) and my MPG dropped by about 3. You shouldn't really notice any MPG difference if you stick with the stock tires.

Thanks for the info. It's nice to get it from someone who just installed one.

I just installed the 2" EMU lift and I have vibrations now too. Another member on here sells a 1" t-case drop kit for $20 shipped but I can't remember where I found it.
The emu was rated at "2 inches" but I got three out of it. I definetly have the vibes though. G/L with ur decision..

Do you think a 1 " drop would take care of it? Also, how challenging would it be to do a t case drop?

Installed a 3" Rough Country Series II kit a few months ago now. I do have vibrations and am going to be installing a T-case drop to see if that works, which I'm sure will. Here are a couple of pics of mine lifted.

These were taken right after the lift was installed. Still had 225/70/16's on it and still does but plan on upgrading to 31/10.5/15's before winter.

Good luck
