Dana 35 Carrier interchange Question.
I can get a complete used 3.07 carrier assembly from a 1997 XJ.
I want to replace what's left of the 3.07 carrier assembly in my 1989 MJ.
I've read of design changes during intervening years which limit parts interchange between these differentials.
I haven't been able to determine whether any of the changes would prevent switching the 2 carriers.

I bought the truck a 4 years ago for light to medium road duty.
The spider gears were broken before I got it.
It had been "repaired" by welding the right shaft drive gear to the carrier, so it is driven only by the right rear wheel.
I've driven the truck well over 5,000 miles in that state, but hope to alleviate the inconvenience.
I've been advised to replace the complete carrier assembly, not just the drive gears.
Will the '97 carrier work as a replacement?
