2nd Thread, should i buy it?
i have come across a 1999 jeep cherokee. it has the stock grey rims, and blue or might call it grape jelly.
but it has almost 200,000 miles, and is in good condition. new tires and new A/C components. it is strong feeling and driving. and good looking inside and out.
it cost $1500.
does this sound like a good deal?
what should i look for when i look at it again to make sure it is all good.
and it is not 4wd.

Look for rust. Underneath. Push on the floor boards and see if they are weak or soft. I bought mine after checking everything out. No rust holes any where. Very little on the corners of the rockers but was still solid and not soft. Same with underneath and the floor boards. But mine was a 96 under 150k on it. Green. Country.4x4.$2900. Runs like a champ. Rad was the only major repair....but really not major.

Check the leafs in the bag. See if they are sagging. That's the only thing I didn't look at. Had to buy new shocks. And now looking to make a bastard pack to bring back some of the bend in the leafs. Mine are completely flat almost. Lol.

well i know it was bought and has stayed in the south so there is no rust. and as for the 2wd, i think it is ok for light off roading, it has a limited slip rear if that matters. and it will mostly be for my occasional lawn cutting job seeing as i cant fit a lawn mower in my car. i know you all like the jeep for off roading but i need it for space an work, not a toy.
its either this or an explorer or blazer. but i like the jeep best. i just know that some times jeeps are not reliable.
thanks for input

2WD or 4x4 is the preference of the buyer. I would say go for it! The price is really not that bad, but if you could get it for $1200 great. The limited slip rear end is a Plus with a 2WD. I have logged a lot of miles on back country roads, hunting and fishing etc and many times really did not need 4x4, so if you plan only light off roading the limited slip will really help. Not to mention you will probably get 5-10 more mpg than a 4x4 cherokee.
