242 transfer case question

242 transfer case question
Is there any alarm in a hard shifting transfer case? Its on the floor, drained of fluids condition unknown. I can shift it with some effort, maybe it will improve with fluid added once installed?

Umm yeah if you add fluid it will shift better..Would your cylinders move properly without oil? Don't judge how it shifts when it's dry of fluid.
