Default 242 HNT questions

I am looking into doing a hack'n'tap on my 242 and i have heard a lot of things, read a lot of things, and seen a lot of things. i am looking for the truth on this. I intend to use a Front drive shaft out of a XJ or ZJ as for the yoke what do i need for that? someone once told me that i can use the front output yoke off a 231 or 242. I remove the front yoke off the spare 96 231 that i have. and tried to fit it on the output shaft of my 97 242 that is on the jeep but it does not fit? is it the wrong year? Did i misunderstand the technique? if someone could shed some light on this for me please.
